The first step in having a good credit score is preventing yourself from getting bad marks on your credit history.

"The Identity Theft and Assumptions Deterrence Act" was signed in 1998 by President Clinton. This act offers more protection than ever for victims of this type of crime, and also redefines identity theft by making the theft of personal information an actual crime.

This act was brought to light in hopes of deterring would-be theifs of stealing a person's identity. To make it more unlawful should, by all rights, make it less appealing to theifs.

If someone steals a person's identity, they will have access to basically all personal information available. This includes bank accounts, medical records and credit cards. If the theif uses the person's credit cards to purchase items, the owner of the card is responsible no matter what. If these items go without being noticed, there is the potential for a poor credit history as a result.

Please be careful with your personal information. If this scenario has already happened to you, please enter your information in the form below to receive your Free Credit Consultation.
